Units may arrive on Friday afternoon from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM or Saturday morning before 7:30 AM. Let us know if you will be late so staff may orient you on arrival. Camporee ends after the closing program Sunday morning (about 9:00 AM) All units should have their campsites cleared out, picked up and inspected by 11:00 AM.
Camporee is $20 per participant (Scout or adult) for the entire weekend. Make your check payable to NCAC-BSA. A single check per unit is the preferred method of payment. DO NOT SEND CASH. Units are not registered until payment is received. Online registration is at the Aquia Distrct Website.
All participants must be registered and involved in the program. Registration fees cover site fee, program materials, patches, insurance and prizes. Early estimates of attendees from troops is greatly appreciated. Every youth participant must submit the permission form at http://t516.org/uploads/PermissionSpring09DistrictReg.doc
Refunds will not be granted for cold or wet weather. The camporee will go on as planned. In the highly unlikely event the camporee is cancelled due to extreme weather or other reason, all pre-paid registrations will be returned less a charge for actual costs incurred.
Upon arrival at camporee, an adult leader must report to the check-in station to get your campsite assignment and parking tokens. You must turn in a final roster of scouts at this time. The roster is mandatory and must be accurate. Also at this time, you must indicate the names of at least 2 adult volunteers who will assist with the Saturday program area (4 hours each)
All participants are expected to stay within the camp boundaries. Scouts should use the buddy system within camp and not wander off. Swimming, boating and fishing at Lake Dillon are not allowed. The COPE area and climbing tower are off limits.
Troops will be able to drive one vehicle only to their campsite to drop off gear. All other vehicles will be parked at the adjacent Cub Scout camp (1/4 mile). Trailers may remain at the campsite but other vehicles must then be parked in the designated parking areas. Upon check-in you will receive one parking pass for the equipment vehicle.
As is the case every year, the Commonwealth of Virginia has a burning/open fire ban in effect from February 15 to April 30, 2009. No ground fires are allowed before 4:00pm in or within 300 feet of woodlands, grasslands, or other areas with flammable materials. Violation of this law is a misdemeanor punishable by fine and offenders are potentially liable for costs related to putting the fire out, as well as any damages caused to others' property.
Fires are allowed in designated fire rings or portable pits. Propane stoves are permitted. All liquid waste must be strained and removed with your units trash. Units are expected to practice LEAVE NO TRACE. Be sure to wash hands and practice good hygiene.
There are four water hookups available in camp. There will be additional water available in the program area. Each scout should bring a water bottle to carry throuhtout the day.
We will hold a camporee program and safety briefing at 8:30 Friday at the shelter in the staff area. Each unit must send a Senior Patrol Leader and adult: Unit or other designated leader - a total of not more than 2 per unit. Briefing is followed by cracker barrel.
Units must ensure their campsite is clean and that all trash is carried out with them. Units must contact a camporee staff member before departure for final inspection and clearance.
Camporee staff will be easily identifiable and available throughout the camporee weekend for answering questions. If you don't see us, we can be reached at the staff HQ (by the flagpole) or by cell phone. Numbers will be provided during check-in.

Given the broad range of activities planned for the camporee, adult leaders (Scouters and parents) are needed to assist with the program. Every unit is expected to contribute two adults on Saturday to assist in a program area--one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
